A Walk on the Wild Side

Around 3:00pm on Friday, April 14th, the East Whiteland Fire Company, with the aid of several other companies, responded to a barn fire at Canter Hill Farm in Charlestown Township. Canter Hill Farm is the home to chickens, turkeys, sheep and ostrich. While the Fire Companies worked to battle the blaze, members of the East Whiteland Police Department were sent on a wild goose... or rather, a wild ostrich chase. AltText

The 200+ pound ostrich roamed the streets, making its way into West Whiteland Township, and had close encounters with several officers during its travels. Officer Ralph said that "it was hopefully a once in a lifetime experience, but it was entertaining." After a few hours, the ostrich was eventually "taken in to custody" and returned home.
