Portion Of Route 29 Reduced To One Lane Through Early July

Route 29 (Morehall Road) has been reduced to one travel lane in each direction between the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange and Atwater Drive/General Warren Boulevard in East Whiteland and Charlestown townships through early July, for construction activities related to an improvement project to reconstruct a portion of the highway.

Motorists will encounter lane closures on Route 29 (Morehall Road) between the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange and Atwater Drive/General Warren Boulevard, as crews begin setting up the new pattern as part of work to correct existing sinkhole and pavement subsidence issues. During construction, all traffic will be shifted to the southbound side of Route 29 (Morehall Road), with one northbound lane and one southbound lane available.

Route 29 (Morehall Road) motorists as well as motorists exiting the Pennsylvania Turnpike are advised to allow extra time when traveling through this work zone because slowdowns will occur during construction. The contractor's schedule is weather dependent.

PennDOT is working to minimize future sinkhole problems by constructing geotechnical treatments and roadway drainage improvements to prevent surface water infiltration and provide structural support to the roadway. The project is scheduled to be completed in fall 2018.
